just wondering how stable is this build? Was tempted to install this on my lappy but dont want to waste my time with it if its no good. Generally just use my lappy for browsing the net, office 2003 and connection to my netgear router...

When I was a student I was always falling over myself getting the latest copy of everything as soon as poss because back then the OS's were pretty shite and most upgrades actually meant something (except ME  ) - if you are running a decent system with XP I wouldn't bother my a$$ if I were you, XP works fine.

The latest build is 5381.

I have not been able to get my test box to access neither the Internet nor my Network since build 5308. I've had no luck with 5342, 5365 or 5381.

There are a few interface changes, but other than a few lock ups here and there the builds have been pretty stable. Too bad they expire in 14 days without activation. The box won't even boot to the Desktop after expiration.

If you need to ask that question then you shouldn't do it.

The Beta/RC1 builds are just for testing and troubleshooting, not to act as your primary OS. PC hardware developers, software developers, etc have reasons.... If you don't already have a good reason for running a beta OS then don't waste your time.

Build 5384 is newer BTW.

yeh dont run it as your primary OS, thats not what its ready for yet

why not try running it in a virtual machine (virtual pc, virtual server or vmware), that way you can play with it with no risk
