firewall problems

am using zonealarm firewall, or should that be id like to use it.
when its on i cant get any web pages up, but turned off its fine.
i havent ticked to block any internet explora.
any idears?

on other firewalls i've used you can just right click the icon in your toolbar and show history or whatever its called then see if it has been set to block.

but once i got a virus or spyware or whatever it was that just wouldn't let me access my firewall at all and had to uninstall it.
