View Full Version : HDD Wants Me To Format It After I Have Taken It Out Of My Other Pc

i recently decided to sell my 2nd pc and i took the hds of out and decided to sort them out at a later date anyway i today went to put one into my other pc to get some data off and it saying it isnt formatted and needs formating and it doesnt need formatting cos it was fine in my old like 2-3 days ago its a 120 gig and its full of data i need so the question is: is there anyway i can get that data? even when i click to go into the drive it just drings up a box saying the drive isnt formatted would u like to format it, i havent done it obv.

i have had this before when the drive isn't properly plugged into the ide cable, or the ide cable into the mobo. try a different cable etc

is it formated as ntfs and now running in a win98/me system? (fat32)

Even XP will allow you to do what littlejack is getting at NTFS or FAT32 but Fat32 wont see a NTFS drive

Another point, will the new PC see a drive that big, and you haven't tried to use it as the master boot drive have you? Xp wont allow this due to the significant changes in your PC hardware, try plugginging it in as a slave on IDE 2 and see if you can view the contents.
