i am converting some dvd to vcd/mpeg1 for multi's
currently i am using dvd decrypter/flaskmpeg[old i know but works for me]/tmpge

after using dvd decrypter vob's are fine..no sound issues
not always but when i run "flask" the audio is greyed out
it would only give me the option "do not process audio"
this is happening more frequently

i thought it was the transfers from vcd to dvd, but i am in fact doing actual retail dvd and the same problem happends

any help i appriciated

I would suggest that you do the audio seperatly anyway. That way you can use AC3 instead of say mp2 especially if Flask doesn't give you the option to keep it 48KHz.

Hang on so you were doing VCD-->DVD-->VCD-->DVD??

some are transfers from vcd-->>dvd
others are from retail dvd .. both give me the same problem at times but not always

the problem is that flask is not giving me an option to decode audio
everthing is greyed out and only option is "do not decode audio"

is there anything i can use that is "free" to do the job of flask
i tried using dvd2avi but the files become way to big to deal with
i may be doing something wrong dvd2avi

remember this problem occures but not everytime

Generally DVD2AVI is simply used to save D2V (project files) not to actually save AVI's, especially when you are going for MPEG1 or anything else not an AVI.

TMPGEnc is free for MPEG1 encoding. QuEnc and any other libavcodec based encoder will also be free such as for instance ffdshow (slow), ffmpeg or mencoder.

Could be just me but VCD-->DVD-->VCD-->DVD somehow just seems wrong.

actually i am trying to convert certain titles that are already on dvd-r to make a multi dvd-r...hope that clears things up a bit

i want to make a multi dvd-r and i have been doing so using
dvd decrypter/flask/tmpge[in that order]
just lately flask is not allowing me to "decode audio":bawling:

you say these work the same as flask ??
[b]ffdshow (slow), ffmpeg or mencoder[b/]

Kind of the same. ffdshow can encode mpeg1, but not audio. ffmpeg and mencoder can encode both video and audio. Both are commandline apps though.

Seeing as how you are already using TMPGEnc, why don't you just use it for encoding. The audio you should be able to re-use.

So it is VCD(352x?)-->DVD(720x?)-->MPEG1(352x?)-->DVD(352x?) ? You should always start of with the best source possible.
