View Full Version : Anyway to recover data from memorystick after 'deleting partition'

Where Did I Go?

Hi all

Had to re-install windows, but when it came to formatting I accidently deleted the memory sticks partition. I then re-created the partition, but have not formatted the drive. (If I put the drive in my pc it says its not formated, and would I like to).

I have got Bad Copy Pro but I can't select that drive (perhaps because its not formated)

Is there any way to recover this data? Should I format the drive or not? Any different methods to recover the data?

The memory stick is a Kingston DataTravelrt 512mb

Appreciate any help possible.

Thanks

Try Recover My Files (http://www.recovermyfiles.com/).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Do I need to format the memory stick first? Or is that likely to make it more difficult to recover? (As I can't see the drive in "Recover My Files" or in "Bad Copy Pro")

If you can't see the drive let me see if we can use something else.

Edit: Recover My Files should detect the deleted partitions and will allow you to recover the data from them.

Hi

Thanks, managed to get Bad Copy Pro to detect the memory stick, couldn't get "recover my files" to find it

Its currently scanned 56% of the drive and has recovered 890 files Which sounds good. Hope I can actually retrieve them.

Also, anyone got any experience with this program? As its currently reporting files with name "fileXXX" (where XXX refers to a number... increasing for each file found). Anyway to retrieve the file names\file structure atall? (otherwise it is going to be very difficult to figure out what certain files are.

Thanks :)

Bad Copy Pro does not recover the name of the original file but allocates an number to each file it recovers. you will just have to go through the files to find what you are looking for.
