as title says, everytime i download stuff sometimes the download ONLY wants to put the file im downloaing into C: drive when the idiots who made my pc made my HDD to read as I: tried to change it through disk management but it wont let me, this cos its in use so wont let me change it.

whats the easiest way of changing it WITHOUT buying a new HDD and runnin windows from that HDD to change the name of the other HDD or without resetting/formatting windows...

btw nothing else on my pc is using the C: name...

If that is a system or boot volume, you can't change its drive letter via Disk Management because the drive letter of a boot or system drive is hard coded in the Registry.

You can follow the steps in this MS article (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=223188) to change the drive letter of a boot/system drive if its drive letter has been changed unexpectedly by, for example, partition addition or deletion. However, if the drive letter was the same as when XP was installed, you shouldn't change it as you may not be able to run XP again. :)
