Hello, I have lots of .PSD (Photoshop images) files in my work folder. Earlier when PS 5.5 was installed I used to get decent Thumbnail Preview of these images in Windows Explorer. This was easier for me to choose the right one from the lot and then to open the same using either Photo Shop or Irfan View.
Now after installing PS CS2 I've somehow lost this thumbnail preview in Windows Explorer.
Is there any way/ setting/ tweak to get it back?
Thanks!
~ MM.

Program and/or Extension Function for .PSD :
Adobe Photoshop Format
MIME Type :
image/photoshop
image/x-photoshop
image/psd
application/photoshop
application/psd
zz-application/zz-winassoc-psd
Identifying Characters :

Any additional info required Mr. Hitman? :saywhat:

The thumbnail view works in ps cs, but only when opening a file with ps :/

haha ok ok...chill...have you actually tried uninstalling PS CS2 if you have lost the thumbnail view with windows explorer to see if it is the actual software?
i mean, that s**t is dodgy....! I've upgraded to CS2 and have to save much of my print work as PDF's. In CS it was rather easy, not many choices and a massive file was saved down to a small manageable 4meg or so. In CS2, however, there are a bundle of options, none of which seem to crunch the files down to anything smaller that 72 meg! wat the hell....so instead, i just got rid of it...and went back to the old version...

Hey Hitman.. I was just kidding... ;) I prefer CS2 over any other old photoshop version because of it's functionality. Am not bothered of image/ document size. :)

Adobe Photoshop CS (v8.x and above) no longer supports displaying PSD files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer's thumbnail view, all you get is a standard Photoshop icon. The read-me file for Photoshop CS confirms this.
Ok if anyone else is interested to solve such problem here is the solution:
Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V the following code in Notepad and save as "ShowPrevIconPSCS.REG"
********** START **********
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\SharedDLLs]
"C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\Shell\\psicon.dll"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellEx]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{0B6DC6EE-C4FD-11d1-819A-00C04FB69B4D}"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0B6DC6EE-C4FD-11d1-819A-00C04FB69B4D}]
@="Photoshop Icon Handler"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0B6DC6EE-C4FD-11d1-819A-00C04FB69B4D}\InProcServer32]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\Shell\\psicon.dll"
"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"
********** END **********
Also create a folder SHELL at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\
Download & Copy psicon.dll (http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files.php/dllfiles/P/psicon.dll/download.html) to newely created Shell folder.
Double click ShowPrevIconPSCS.REG file that we have created earlier and hit OK.
You are done! Enjoy PS CS2 .PSD Thumbnail Preview in Win Explorer :)
