hello chaps,

sorry if this seems a dumb question, but I've just got a 360 and was wondering if you could use a USB hub in the back USB port or not??

I've got one of the wireless adaptors plugged in there but was thinking of connecting my 400GB external drive in there too which has my mp3s on . The reason why I would prefer to hook that up there is to keep the front looking clutter free under my TV.

Would it affect the Live service if I did this? ie, would the Xbox be able to stream audio through this port and connect up online at the same time ok?

Like I said, to some of you it might sound stupid that I'm even asking the question :insane: . I know there's nothing to stop you from physically connecting them up like that but was wondering if there were any technical reasons why it wouldn't work

I believe it should work. I know for sure that you can hook up a USB external HD to the 360 and run music/pictures straight from the HD (no streaming required). Check out xbox-scene or www.allxboxskins.com for more info.

I think you'll find the drive needs to be FAT32, not NTFS ..... have a read here for more info :

the drive is FAT32 formatted and definitely works fine with the 360 when I plug it into the front ports, but I would prefer to plug it into the back if possible. You're quite correct about the NTFS not working though Phil - the first drive I tried was a NTFS one and the 360 didn't recognise it, but the FAT32 one works perfectly.

I guess the only way to find out for sure if it's going to work is to try it lol, but I don't have any hubs kicking around at the minute so guess i'd better go out and buy one. I just thought I'd ask here first in case anyone had already tried it and it didn't work
