Hi,
how do i do a screen shot or a cap of a dvd.
I use windows media player to play dvds and other video files. i have tried printscreen then pasting but that doesn't seem to work??
any help appreciated.

Don't think you can do it without third party software.
Most software DVD players such as PowerDVD has a screen capture option.

If you want to do it with wmp you would either need to disable the hardware overlay or use a screen cap program that supports capturing it.

Probably the easiest way is to just open two players and cap from the second one. It should not be using overlay.
