deleting those 3 files files can clear up 500mb, and those files are not referenced anywhere that it will affect gameplay.

whats the total size of the iso after those files are deleted, I don't have this game so I'm kindof walking you through ripping a dvd9 blindly.
Look for folders named extras, if there are any movie formats that can be compressed like mpg or avi or bik then we could go that route. Most audio is not coded in any standard format but maybe we could try to downsample some audio. I'll do some more digging today as I have time, and i'll see what I can get out of the intraweb.

Hi pepsik
Thanks for taking an interest.
There are loads of BIK files so I thought I'd get the Bink and Smaker RAD tools.... however despite being a dab hand at all things video (DVD movies) i'm flying blind with these tools.
Any advice welcome
cheers

Jeez, worked out how to do it but it's sloooooooowwwww. Not sure it's worth the effort. Even on a 3.4 P4 with 1 gig of Ram re-encoding is torturously slow. Done the first video and it took 27 mins just to downsample a 40MB file by 50% (thats to say reduce it to a 20 MB file)

yup downsampling is always time consuming. I was trying to find my blank bik files that are 1kb in size but nimbs has taken them off his site.
I'll keep looking, it's usually easier to rename the blank bik to say the credits then it is to downsample them.

Ok i claim to be no genious at this so do it at your own risk, all i have done is to delete or temporarily take out of the video folder tutorial, obviously if you still have the game in iso format you need to break it down in to the files using qwix,or any other file converter ie:simple xiso, once done this will bring it down to 4.16gb and will now obviously fit on a dvdr, rebuild with either of the above mentioned programs to iso and job done,i done this yesterday and to be honest played it for several hours without no fault/error.

Glad you guys got it sorted.
In my search for a rip I found out there will need to be a patch for tournament mode. Seems there is the same type of protection that KOTOR 2 had where it reboots with at a certain stage :(

Not necessarily to do with how it was done but like pepsik said known protection issues.

workaround that works for getting into tournament mode. Grab a midnight club 3 gamesave and use that profile to play tournament mode.

this might help
Extract the iso to your pc
copy the files from the \video\Tutorial to the \video\TokyoTut
after copy was done deleted all the files in the \video\Tutorial folder or folder ?
I just checked my iso and found out that these five files need to be renamed:
flash\loadscreen_career_tokyo_TKSportsBikeC.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_AtlDubOn.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_AtlDubTw.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_DetMuscl.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_SDCompou.xbck
to these:
flash\loadscreen_career_tokyo_TKSportsBikeC.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_AtlDubOne.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_AtlDubTwo.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_DetMuscle.xbck
flash\loadscreen_career_tournament_SDCompound.xbck
Created the iso with Qix and checked the cross-link identical files in the options section after selecting my folder.
