I have a few sunfly karaoke cds, and was after some of the newer titles. From what I can see the best way of doing this would be to get them on dvdr in a compressed format, and then recode them or something onto cd.... Im jsut wondering how difficult this actually is and if u encounter any problems when doing it... In other words, coz it takes ages to do and does it take the p**s sometimes with sync problems or anything???

If any of you have them on cds, give me a shout..

cheers

with the correct combination of h/w and software (including OS) there is no problem to this at all. For best results you need to be running XP and have the .NET framework installed (free d/l from MS) you also need mp3+G TOOLZ (also free) CDRWIN is a must have app. For h/w you need to have a PLEXTOR burner. With this combination you can have your mp3+G disc copied and pasted from your DVD disc to your HDD, converted to .bin and burned in about seven mins (depending on your specs) with NO ERRORS AT ALL (as long as the original is fine)

so can i still do it without a plextor writer? I have a liteon one and don't really fancy changing it for karaoke cds...

liteons will write .bin files with cdrwin.however they will not rip cdg files to .bin files from a cdg disc.

so in other words NO?? Is there a specific reason why some cdwriters won't copy specific files? Well then glad I didn't get them, as would have been a waste of time... Need the cds so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreiciated!!

Audiograbber 1.83 will rip them straight from a CDG disc to a bin or direct to a mp3+G file using a Liteon writer to read it.

If you have them on DVD and your burner will burn .bin files with CDRWIN you have no real need to 'copy' any discs, just convert from mp3+G to .bin each time you need a disc, it doesn't take any longer and you have a better chance of creating a good disc i.e. with no scrambled graphics (errors)

are there any site which will let you find out which writers will write .bin files? Im just thinking if I try it then i might damage my burner.....

You can use a Liteon burner to burn cd&g.Just use mp3&g toolz to make a cue file. Then use a very simple program called Cue2Cd to convert the cue file to a ccd file, burn that in Clone CD ver.4 or higher.I had some trouble with lyrics not showing sometimes in cdrwin,Clone has been perfect.I also have a Plex premium, but my Liteon is as good. You do need a drive that will burn RAW96.Also burn at a reduced speed if you want to play it safe. Also when you burn the ccd file burn it as an audio and no multisession!
