i have quite a strange problem here, and i can't seem to figure it out.

recently when i modded a friend's xbox, his power supply died on me. so i ended up taking my own power supply from my xbox and putting it in his. i then ordered a delta one off ebay (for v.1.1 xboxes) and it was working fine.

i had the xbox hooked up onto one tv through composite (or rca), and picture and everything was fine. when i tried it on my sony wega flatscreen with component (non hdtv), it boots up looking normal, but then the screen gets all garbled up when it loads up my dashboard.

here are two videos to get a better idea of what i'm talkin about.

first video: connected through composite cables...everything working fine.

second video: connected through component...screen gets garbled loading dash

i have a v1.1 xbox, softmodded with fonts and pbl. i've used this xbox fine on this tv before, and recently the only thing that's changed is the power supply. what i dont understand is how can changing the power supply make the screen garbled like that? plus it's only when loading the dash. i'm seriously lost on this one. any ideas? thanks

I'm guessing its something to do with the softmod as I've never seen a chip do that. Maybe try a newer bios?

hmmm...i've been running this softmod for almost a year now without probs. maybe i will try a newer bios and see if that changes anything.

Yea, Pheniox Bios loader is not compatable with the newer video chips.

the thing is, i have a v1.1 xbox...and i was using it fine with component video before i switched the power supply. i had a foxlink before...and this new one is a delta. i just don't understand how switching a power supply can affect the video.

Maybe try a different dash? Maybe the dash is trying to enable hdtv mode since you have the components hooked up? I would probably rule out the power supply as being the problem as if there was feedback or any probs with it then it wouldn't boot normally in the beginning. It seems like it only messes up when the dash starts up so check all the video settings in your dashboard or try a different dash.

Maybe you plugged it in the wrong input.
Cause on my tv component cable isn't on
video 3 but it's on "CVI"
