DVD-rw media locking up drive....

I just bought a 2pk of Sony dvd-rw media for my Pioneer104 drive. I tried burning to it but just sat there with the light on and couldnt eject it so i had to reboot the computer. Now if i insert the disk in the tray the light stays on and the computer wont read the disc if i select the drive. Is there something special to do with the dvd-rw discs? thanks

ok thanks. I have firmware 1.40 which i thought was the latest. guess not. I will try it out and repost.
