Got a V7 PS2 with an original Messiah. Booted up everything fine, but for the last month or so, it would not boot up any originals. I've cleaned my laser and it boots all backups, even +r and +RW, from cheap media to quality media. I've had it for 5-6 years, and I have to say V7 probably has the best laser, but somehow it's not booting up originals anymore. I tried GT4 and God of War and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, all with no scratches on discs at all, and they wont boot up. Any help is welcome, thanks in advance.

I would check someone elses orginals and see if they boot and if they dont a wire might have come loose from your chip or has a very weak connection give wires a slight tug if you suspect them and then resolder

I've tried every originals i have as well as others from friends and relatives, and none boots up. It'll keep reading and reading and then gives a no disc data error, but every backup boots up fine.

Try checking the wiring connections like PS2Daddy suggested.

wire e or w is the most likely.
you could also try the white plastic arm that is on side of laser. remove laser rod screw on rhs, angle laser assembly up and there is a stylus like thingy underneath, its probably full of fluff so the laser cant shuttle up n down the worm drive.
hope this helps
