Novice here!!

Can you enable DMA to a drive that is connected via IDE cable via a IDE PCI Card.?????

Many thanks m8, this guide only describes the normal way of enabling IDE devices, my drive goes through PCI. Perhaps its not possible.

I may be wrong here, but I dont think there are settings as such.
I think it depends on the PCI Card itself and whether it supports Ultra DMA.

Have a look on Google for your PCI Card and this should give you some pointers.

Depends on the card as Phil say's, but tbh I would never run a recording drive from a PCI RAID or IDE card. Far better to run your HD's from them as they were intended for and run any CD/DVD devices from your mobo's main IDE channels.

Yep, totally agree with Lazza. Most mobos provide at least 2 IDE channels which will handle up to 4 devices. Use them for optical drives and use the add-on IDE cards for HDs. It would work much better this way.

cheers guys, all lazyness on my part, couldnt bothered messing about with primary, slave etc.. will have to open her up and do the job properly :D
