OK - not really a strong area of mine, though I can get by making basic pages with Dreamweaver.
Am currently knocking something up for my own use at home (using Publisher actually!), I find that if I change the screen resolution my page does not resize automatically - since I am using 600 x 800 to create the site, when I change to higher res I end up with a lot of white space.
Can this be avoided somehow?

not actually sure using Publisher, but in general, instead of using a pixel dimension I have found it is easier to use a tag for the percentage of the screen the page is displayed on, so maybe that option is available. I actually use notepad though quite a lot, but obviously not for the original creation, more the editing of the page, and web design is also not my strongest point.

Yeah, it seems my options are Inches, cm, picas (?), points or pixels in publisher.
I guess I can just change the page setup to 1024 and be careful about my sizing.
If you are using Frontpage and you set the page up with a table you can go into table properties and set the width in percentage, this will allow your page to "auto fit" the different resolotions. You are then free to set up the page in 1024 res. You have to be careful that the entire width of your inserted images etc.. are not so large as to block the table from shrinking when it is viewed in a smaller res. I.e. If you have a 3 column wide table with a 600 pixel banner inserted in the centre cell and a 100 pixel picture inserted in the cells either side the total width if the pics is 800 and the table is unable to shrink itself beyond that width. So you would need to, for example make the banner 450 pixels wide and the pics either side 70 pixels wide. When viewed in 720 the table would expand and your page would fill the screen and when viewed in 600 the table auto adjusts so your page again fills the entire screen. You can of course make your page in 600 res and centre it but when view in the larger res it may not give you the result you are looking for.
Hope it helps

Yes when settings tables, etc which require a size, as mentioned above set the parameters to % instead of pixel size. That way you are setting the size for all resolutions.

Ta, will stop being lazy and use dreamweaver again. Publisher doesn't cut the mustard!

Update ... on the being lazy front, a mate of mine put me onto a piece of freeware called "nukedit" - it's an absolutely awesome content management package, gives you a great looking fully customisable site in no time at all. Highly recommended!
