Hey guys now with the release of DVD-RB i think i'm gonna have a crack at putting both sides of Goodfellas on a dvd-r.
I've ripped the vobs (movie only) and recreated the Ifo's and bup files with IFOedit (0.96).
Now the annoying thing about this is that while the source is 720x576, its a 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars top and bottom (and to the sides)- so the movie is actually widescreen in a 4:3 frame
I was wondering if it would help at all quality wise if I did a crop and Lancoz resize in avisynth (let DVD-RB create the avs files and then paste the relevant crop and resize commands in each avs file once that stage had been completed in DVD-RB.
Is it
a) possible to do this
b) worth the effort- will the quality improve (both sides together with just the 5.1 audio stream is about 6.5~7gb)
and finally i assume the output of the resizing still has to remain 720 x 576 for it to be dvd compliant and for cce to work its magic?
any help greatly appreciated guys as usual
