Said they would make it dual layer in June. Seeing is believing.

the key word is Upgradable

Will be intresting to see if other companies release firmware for their existing drives, and how much they charge

It's official now and BenQ has verified that the upgrade will be free. Not available until the end of this year though. :(

Well if nothing else it will convince others to drop the price on thier dual-layered burners.

Looks like this only writes at 8 X on +r's :

Write:

11,080 DVD+R (8X Max)
5,540 DVD-R (4X Max)
3,600 CD-R (24X Max)

So in the interim period, it looks as though it lags behind the 107.
Also it will be interesting to see what Pioneer's stance is going to be.
