Ok trying to connect my 360 through my PC to the internet so I can play on xbox live.

The PC im trying to connect to isnt directly connected to the internet, it connects through another PC.

When I try to add the 360 to the network then run the XBOX Live test it comes up with:

Network Adaptor: Wired
IP Address: Confirmed
DNS: Failed

These are the settings I've assigned to the 360

IP Address: 192.168.0.4
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.3 (The IP address of the LAN card the 360 is connected to)

Heres a diagram of what it all looks like.

Not only can I not connect to xbox live but Ive noticed I cant connect to the internet on the upstairs comp either when the lan card connected to the 360 is enabled.

Hope someone can help me out, losing the will to live here lol

TIA

NO and NO. Where the heck did you get the idea that you can't do simple things like this with a router?!! Do you even know what routers actually do?

That convoluted networking setup of yours (Modem to PC to PC to Xbox) is completely absurd. Of course you're having trouble getting it to work.

Get a cheap router with a built in 4-port ethernet switch and stop banging your head against a wall.

Not that i know much about networks and my xbox360 was 1st time i setup a home network with it but is "ICS" on your upstairs computer (Internet Connection Sharing) with the other Lan card that connects to the xbox360?

Windows Xp network setup will setup a ICS if you have another card in the comp.

Thing is though both your Pcs have to be on for this (for the internet connection), and on my setup i only have the 1 PC not like yours but my main pc has another spare ethernet card in it which my xbox360 is attached too and running via ICS in windowsXP.
