Hi Everyone,
I installed a Wireless Router at Xmas to connect a new laptop.
Everything is working fine.
The only problem is when I want to host a game of Tigerwoods 2005. I am not sure what IP to send to the other players.
I contacted linksys and they pointed me to the IP in the status section of the gateway setup but it did not work.
In the same section there is also the Default Gateway IP, also on the desktop bottom/right icon in the toolbar if I click on status/support there is another different IP address and default gateway address.
All these IP ADDYs are different, I have sent the players both IP addys (not the gateway) but no one has been able to connect yet.
My Mcafee wirewall is set ok as we played using my old Talktalk modem with out problems.
I can connect to any of their computers with no problems.
I am using XP Pro connection speed DSL 1000 kbps
The main computer is connected using ethernet socket on the router.

The Linksys Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway WAG354G installed with WEP encryption security and pass worded. I also disabled the SSID so no one can see the network.( just read about that on DVDRom)
Have I got to change a setting in the router allowing direct IP connections?
Just worried that it may allow intruders.
Do I use the WAN IP not that I can find it?

You need to give the players the WAN IP, which should be in the config of the router, sounds like the one Linksys pointed you to.

However you will need to set up port forwarding on the router in order for people to connect. Have a look in the manual, it will be in there. You will need to find out the port that TW2K5 uses as well.

Will check Linksys website for info..... only basic settings in manual and the same on the installation disk.

Think these are the ports to forward

http://www.gameconfig.co.uk/showdetail.asp?id=131

The following should have your router details

Thanks TierraDelFuego
Been reading about the problem and it looks like I will have to create a static Ip address for this computer & the laptop. ( I know how do do that now)
I will have to use port forwarding.
This is where I am stuck.
I can use TCP or UDP ( where UDP ports are supposed to be the best for gaming)
so in the range section I can put in 3658 to 6000 set at UDP and fill in the rest of the IP address, tick the box and save?
Do I have to set a fixed IP on the laptop as it will not be used for the game?
cheers
