If you protect your wireless network, you will not need to worry, as nobody will be able to share it.
Have a look in the router manual for either WEP or WPA security.

agreed of course security is best.
You may have something in the router web config that shows stations attached to the router. However this information is going to be pretty useless to most people as it doesn't tell you their name :) just the mac id of the nic.
Yup I have someone connectiong to mine, didnt think anyone in my street was savvy enough, before i setup security, 2 Q's:
When setting up WEP/WPA how do i allow my clients to the network? Does it find the network but ask for the pass code?
2) Is there anything I can do while he is connected? Obviously I know his MAC address.

When you set up WEP, it will generate a code for you.
As long as you leave SSID Broadcast enabled they will see the Network and yes, when they try to connect, it will ask for the code.
Not a bad idea, once the client PC's have all stored the info, do disable SSID ... that way nobody from that point gets to even see the Network.
So I cant do anything to his PC? I assume he doesnt have file sharing enabled, Is his IP now generated by my router - 192.168.2.5 for example?
That all sounds a bit vindictive to me, but yes he will have an IP address given out by your DHCP server. You have to take at least some responsibilty though for leaving your network wide open. If you know what you are doing there are things that you could do to him but I am not going to elaborate here.
Its ok, Im not overly fussed about foing anything, and my intentions were never malicious. My network is secure, but the only reason it wasnt was I never knew how the clients would respond, and as from my previous networking problems, just having it work was difficult enough.
Needless to say, its all secure now, many thanks for your input Phil.
