I'm trying to share a folder on win 2000 by alternate clicks and sharing, but the option is not showing up for me to share. What can I do?

It's pretty tricky actually, but here's what I had to do.

Go to:
Start Menu / Programs / Accessories / Administrative Tools (Given you have that installed) / Computer Management

Once in there:
-Expand "system tools" (usually expanded by default)
-Expand "Share folders"
-Expand "Local Users and Groups"

You need to create a "user" profile for other computers on the network to be able to see your shares.

Create one called "guests" or something to that extent, don't give it a password, unless that's your desire.

Now, when you go to your harddrive and right click on a folder and go to "Sharing"
You can share that folder, and then click on the "permissions" tab.

Once in there, click on the "Add" button, and a list of possible Users / Groups will appear. Add you're new User group (possible called "guests"), and give it full control on both Read and Change.

Ideally...that should do it.

OR

On any machine which you want people to "browse" on, you need to set up a User Account in the "Administrative Tools/Computer Management" section. You need to do 3 things:
-Establish User Account
-Go to the Folder or Drive you want browsable, right click, go to properties, go to Security, and "Add" your new User.
-On that same folder/drive, right click and go to Sharing, click on "Permissions", and Add your new user.

Make sure that you have File and Print sharing enabled, and that they're all in the same workgroup.

Than and only then will your drive/folder will be browsable by other computers.

Those other computers can map a network drive to that shared location, and you should be all set.
