Upgrading H/D with softmod

I've just got an XBOX and am thinking about getting a softmod. Before I do this I was thinking about upgrading the standard H/D with something bigger.

Is this easy enough to do ?

Its easy, but you have to have it modded before you upgrade the hdd.
