just to confirm, we are talking sata here?

is it showing in the sata bios?
is it a new drive? if so, you will need to enable and partition it first in computer management/ disk management

Both power leads ???
Is it a Maxtor drive ?
I know some Maxtor SATA drives come with the old 4 pin power connectors AND the 15 pin SATA power connections. But only one should be connected to the power supply.

People who can't spell "SATA" probable shouldn't try to install one. :)

Most drives with dual power connectors specifically warn you NOT to plug both in otherwise you'll fry the drive.
