usb composite device code 42

when i look under the device manager it says usb composite devise with a yellow mark at the side.if i try to update the drive i get the above message.
if i unplug my epson from the pc or turn it off and on the yellow maker goes.
any ideas how to silve this problem?

... is it plugged straight in to PC or through a hub ?
... if a hub, what else is plugged into the hub ? and have you tried plugging it straight into PC ?
This is a Printer yeah ? ... have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, with the printer unplugged ?

it is plugged directly into the pc.

According to M$, Code 42 means duplicate device detected .... see here :

i have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled but still the same.
