Made a bit of a boo boo when fixing friends time pc with windows xp home edition, ive fdisked and deleted the partition then created a new 1 using the full contents of the drive and formatted it using a windows 98 boot disk. Must have lost the files that the manufacturer left on the hard drive to use the time reload cd as when I used it and put it back on using the restore command, it gets as far as verifying vmi pool data then hangs when booting it up. If I fdisk it again and remove the partition add it again, then format it using the win 98 boot disk making it fat32. If i then use the time reload cd and use the option to restore mbr will this fix the problem?. If I then use the restore option, or will I have to do someting else, as im not sure what the hidden files are that Time computers leave on the hard drive, im thinking that they must be MBR but im not sure, was thinking of using fdisk /mbr then using the option to restore the MBR from the time reload cd, then using restore, but I am a bit puzzled about this hidden space on the hard drivehttp://www.cdrom-guide.com/cgi/Ultimate.cgi/images/smilies/confused.gif

Ive put another o/s on it for the meantime but need to get it back as it's not a year old yet!http://www.cdrom-guide.com/cgi/Ultimate.cgi/images/smilies/redface.gif

As a last resort you could give their Tech Support line a ring and ask :

Only drawback is ..... £1 a minute :(
