Hi guys, I was wondering if I could buy a USB Wireless dongle that would work in a new G4 iBook or do I have to buy the AirPort made by apple. The reason I am asking is that I cannot afford the AirPort card, but I can afford a £15 ($30) USB wireless USB dongle.
Do these work on the mac or not?
That's all I want to know, just if the Mac OS X will see it, and then install it
thanks in advance for any help

I bought the D-Link one a few weeks ago. Works fine on the PC, on the Mac (OS X 10.3.3) it drops the connection every couple of minutes (so cannot do any downloads or use messenger etc) and every hour or so it needs unplugging & plugging back in which 75% of the time freezes the Mac (Never been able to crash a Mac before!!!)
I have latest drivers etc and D-Link tech support just say that it should work and are not willing to help.
any idea's?

Cant say that I know of anything that would help a refurbished airport card shouldnt have been much more than the belkin adaptor you might have to get one of those instead
Sorry :(
I will look and see if other people have run into this problem and see if I can find a solution for you though

I haven't tried it yet, but D-Link have just sent me the beta 1.4.5 drivers to try, if anyone else wants to try as well, I have uploaded them for you to download (1.1Mb):
