Whenever i try to connect to the internet i get the error message :
Windows Explorer has caused a serious error and needs to close.
It closes back to my desktop.
My pc is connected as i can update AVG and MSN works ok.
Any Ideas ???

i agree if you reinstall it should take care of your problems.
Were did you get IE from? Didn't you just say exploring was crashing?
Reinstall MSN.

Yep. Error message is Windows Explorer.
Why Reinstall MSN ?
Well you see...I don't know how to put it to you...but reinstalling MSN will mostly likely fix your problem since thats the program you are using when you get that error. Although a nice format just for kicks won't be bad either :)
BTW: IE is Internet Explorer as in the browser which is not the samething as explorer. Explorer is the windows graphical shell.
but WE can crash and cause loss of IE pages when it restarts the process (explorer.exe)

As steven says, WE is crashing.
As i said, MSN is ok.
Its when i click on internet shortcut or anything in my favourites list that i get the error message.
Am I the only one dumbfounded?
ARE YOU USING IE OR MSN AS YOUR BROWSER?
And I thought you conecting to the intenet (using MSN) was when you get the error (thats what you said in post#1)?

Right, sorry for the confussion.
Im Using IE as my explorer.
When i said msn i meant msn messenger.
Messenger works ok as does avg update. The problem is when i try to bring up a web page i get the error message and it crashes.

It sounds like he uses both IE and MSN browsers.
The MSN brower functions correctly.
The IE browser envokes the explorer.exe error message.
Explorer.exe is responsible for the Graphical Shell but I've also seen it appear and closes down IE.
I would attempt to repair IE or uninstall and reinstall it. Also make sure that you run Windows Update to get the latest fixes and patches.
You could also make a note of the module that the error is generated in and try to replace that module.
