Toshiba sd220e help needed

have a toshiba 220e which normally plays dvds fine. got a couple of films on riteks, couple work and couple don't. discs are fine as i have tried em on two different players and 2 different pcs. at first i thought the player may have a problem with the discs but ive got other filmswhich work

player was bought from richer sounds and came region free

any idea

Almost certainly the media it's just some DVD players are less tolerant than others.

What brand of Ritek are they? Are they overprints? i.e. > Arita, Orange Top or Landscapes for example.

Yea, what Laz is trying to say about those Ritek overprints is that they are cr@p. Grade B discs that had inperfections in their dye.

it's got a red top, says 'Grade A Media' 'DVD-R 4X' AD manufactured in taiwan. The back is blueish i think

The burner makes a difference too. Ritecs burnt in my LG are problematic whereas the same discs burnt in my pioneer are perfecto. Found out later that the LG is fussier with the media.

i considered that but if something was wrong with the media then it wouldnt work on alot more players. its been tested on 4 different players and 5 pcs working but the player i need it working on just says 'disc error'


i was reading on dvdrhelp.com and a small number of people said this dvd player just oneday lost its multi region capability and it needed to be unlocked again

I have the same machine,whenever i play a DVD that is a SVCD rip the film will play with the picture on the screen twice,once on the left & once on the right,only happens with svcds though,guess cheapest answer is an eye patch
