I have a V.7 PS2 being chipped with a Magic V, the guy has had it for a week and is now telling me that it won't even boot up for him and he is not sure what to do. If anyone can help in any way please let me know.
Thanks

That doesn't sound promising. It could be a defective chip.

I got the chip from www.consolesource.com (http://www.consolesource.com) which I heard was a very reliable place.

just tell him to look for loose wire and also connected bridge those two are the most common thing that makes PS2 to not boot up... boot up into a black sceen. and completely re-check over all the wire he pulled out.. (usually don't need to pull any wire out to do it but he might needed to) and if he still couldn't get it to boot again.. might want to desoldier everything and use the braid to clean it up complete and plug it in to see if it boots correctly if it doesn't.. sounded like trouble...

Unfortunately modding a PS2 is not as easy as some systems. Unless you have a very steady hand and some experience with soldering very small points, you shouldn't even attempt to solder one. It is pretty clear that this guy really didn't know what he was doing if he fried the board like that. Go for one of the reliable installers in the future or try to find someone in your area with some experience in such matters.

Jester before I went to him I had called and asked if he had chipped a system before and he said yes but I found out later that he had put in a couple of neo keys and chipped PS1s but never a no-swap chip.
I called him yesterday and he said that he just ordered and payed for a new motherboard Thurs. and his boss said to give me a $25 gift certificate, as if I would ever go back into that crappy shop. I'll hopefully have my system back next week and then I will probably get a flip top since I can do that myself, I'm just gonna sell my chip cause it's supposed to be fine since he said it still powered up. I really did want my system chipped though :bawling: :bawling:

if you get someone who knows what they are doing you should be fine.i have chipped load of ps2s with messiah2.he must have bridged some connections to fry the board.
