dvd writer problem

hi there , my problem is that my Teac DV-W50E dvd writer reads and writes cd's but wont read or write dvds or dvdr's does anyone know how to fix this problem

what program are u using to burn? what error messages if any are you getting?

i don't get any error it doesn't recognise that there is a dvd in the drive , never flashed with firmware , i copied a dvdr went to burn another dvdr and it wouldn't recognise disc tried different dvds but same problem

You should try with firmware upgrade. Or if it's a new one then better to get in touch with your vendor.
