hi guys ok got a weird problem with my pc
the cpu is amd 2600
and the main problem is when i come to turn the machine on from cold
the pc boots up but no beeps are heared at all :(
but if you leave the pc for acouple of seconds turned off
it boots up into life and loads up perfect.
the monitor remains green standbye but when you try again
it boots up no problem
so i tried a diffrent pc graffics card and again it still does this fault
any ideals what this might be
could it be a faulty memory stick or cpu screwed or motherboard fault
power switch,????
im total lost with this one :bawling:

have you tried clearing the bios?
It might be anything. Try taking out the mobo, put it on a nonconductive surface hook it up witht he bare essentials (no extra pci cards, no cd-rom, etc..) and troubleshoot it like that, try swaping out the PSU with an extra one, the same for your ram and etc...

Yeh deffo go along with wot ps2wiz just said,,i had a similar prob couple of months ago ,,hooked everything up outside of the case and would boot fine ,turned out to be a grounding prob between mobo and case!!!Just out off curiousity it isnt an Asus nobo is it?only reason i ask is cos i got the same chip as u mentioned and after searching around the net found to be quite a common fault!

Yeh basically as ps2wiz suggests is wot i did,,hooked the mobo up outside the case sat on the antistatic bag it comes in ,,hook up up the psu atx connector and the power/reset switch connector etc from the case and go from there,,at first u should get a series of beeps,,then add your memory and run again if it still beeps ok then add your graphics card and hook the monitor up to it and boot then u should then get to the post screen ,,and see if any errors has come up,,providing one of the above hasnt failed..Cos mine got that far ok i let the system run for 1/2 hr to an hr so was ok ,,then realising must have been a problem with the case and the mobo(after reading on another forum this was quite a frequent problem with asus mobos)i then got fibre washers and placed between the mobo and case where the scrwes go in and fibre washers betwenn the screws and the mobo and made sure none of the expansion plates on the back where touching mobo,,,Touch wood since then have had no probs .
