Alright guys,
I'm trying to reinstall windows, then have the profiles on a differnt drive to windows. (im doing this to use a bit of software called deep freeze that stops any changes to selected drives)
I followed this guide:
Mapping User Profiles
This scenario should be used in cases when all user information must be retained.
1. The user data must be allocated in a different partition so Deep Freeze does not touch those files. This can be accomplished using any of the Storage Solutions described earlier.
2. Load any applications and files that the users may require.
3. Open the Registry Editor; go to the Start menu, and choose Run.
4. Type regeditin the Open field and click OK. The Registry Editor appears.
5. Modify the following registry entry to read as follows:
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Profil eList
Name: ProfilesDirectory
Data Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value: path (i.e. E:\Profiles)
Ok, so i did that, and then made another user account, and it does run from e;/ drive. But theres so many problems. You cannot change the backdrop, you cannot save any files, as for some reason, any folder created automaticly becomes "Read Only"
Im sure someone on hear will have changed the path before, im guessing its a common thing for system admins or somthing.
Anyway, thanks for any help.
Cheers.
