bet ya wish you hadnt came in here now eh ?

I have 2 pc's and a laptop, I use the laptop in the kitchen with bt braodband modem. My other 2 pc's are in the spare room with no telephone point.

Is it possible for me to do the following

Plug this item here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=44996&item=3087887357 into a telephone point in lets say the kitchen

then use this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=44996&item=3087888425
with my laptop

and one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3087014538&category=44996 in each of my pc's

Will i be able to use broadband with my laptop and the 2 pc's or will i be able to access broadband on my laptop but be able to send files to the other pc's ?

sorry for the long winded approach but I dont really have a clue

Thanks

Here is my wireless setup:-

Main pc downstairs, with broadband modem/router connected by usb, with wireless access point connected by ethernet cable to the modem/router.

3 computers upstairs, each with a wireless network card.

That's it. I couldn't manage to set it up myself, I had to pay the local computer geek to come and do it for me, but it works perfectly. You only need one wireless access point for your whole network, which must be connected to your modem, but a wireless network card in each pc you want to connect to your main pc's internet connection.

I think the broadband modem should work just plugged in to the access point, and you may not need a router at all, I only use one, becuase I used to have a wired network, so just carried on using it. Not 100% on that though, so don't take it as gospel. If that were the case, then all you'd need to buy were an access point and 2 wireless cards. I use Linksys, simply because I bought all the equipment as a bundle, but it seems like pretty good kit.

get a wireless router, such as bt voyager/ netgear etc connect it via lan to your main PC.
for the others all you have to do is get wiress network cards and sort out wep on each computer and your up and running

I use the Netgear 834DG Wireless router/modem/access point. Got a Netgear WG121 54g USB adapter that I use on a laptop or desktop in another room. Works a treat but plays havoc with the video sender :)
