Hi Folks
I need to replace my default.xbe file on my xbox with a cracked one to play a game.
But i dont know which one to replace. Doing a search on my XBox shows about 14 different default.xbe's
Can anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction?.
Thanks

need more info. What chip/software mod do you have? How are you looking at the files on your xbox? What dashboard are using? What are you trying to get to work?

where are do you save your games to?
Most people have a "Games" folder in which all games are stored:
If you use HDD loader then you are in for a bit of work cos the stupid program saves games to a "HDDLoader" folder, and numbers the games "Game001", "Game002" etc, in order of when they were ripped to the HD.
So if you remember in what order you launched them Just rename the folders to the correct game names- other wise using a file manager like boxplorer navigate into each folder and launch the default.xbe in that folder and make a note of which game loads then go back and rename the folder
Once you have found the folder containg XIII ftp the hacked/patched Default.xbe over the one that was there before.
One of the reasons I've ditched HDDLoader- But if you Decide to rename the HDDLoader folder to "Games" make sure you edit the Evox.ini file to point to the new folder other wise none of your games will show up in Evox's Games menu

Hi HDD Loader is not listed in my apps section, so i guess i'm not using that, i've searchd all sections of my XBox and cannot find any folders which may hold my saves.
I'm at a total loss, can anyone suggest anything else.
Thanks

its not the saves you are looking for its the actual game folders
ftp your evox.ini file to your pc and look for the game menu bit and paste what it says there on here- (i'm assuming you have games on your hd).
Every game has a default.xbe the xbox looks for that executable when you stick a game in the dvd drive.

Get a program named craxtion or qwix or simple xiso, open up the disk with one of the programs and copy the contents to your pc hardrive. Then just swap the old default.xbe for the new default.xbe. Then use the program that you used to repack the image(xiso) and burn the patched disk with your favorite burning program.
Alternate method: ftp the contents of the disc to your pc, swap default.xbe with fixed default.xbe. Use one of the programs listed to make the xbox image(xiso) and burn away. Both craxtion and qwix can patch the default.xbe which never hurts.

oh crap- there was me thinking you were trying to load it from your hd- as you were talking about trying to find the default.xbe on your hd :D
XIII can't be patched woth the normal methods (i don't think) One of the groups released a specially patched/hacked default.xbe in order for it to play from a back up or off the hd. you have to extract the the game iso- and copy over the original default.xbe with the one i assume you have
the xbox looks for the default.xbe executeable (there's one on every game) when you put a disc into the drive.
Now all the home brew developers also name their xbe's default.xbe for two reasons
a) Evox or any other app doesn't have to look for other .xbe files (i assume its easier from a coding point of view) when doing stuff in a menu (the app/game name is stored in the xbe and thats what evox or another dash shows you on screen)
b) it gives you the option of loading the app/game from a disc as your bios is set to load the default.xbe file if ever a disc is inserted into the dvd-rom drive.
- which is why you saw several default.xbe's on your hard drive
hope that explains it
