.avil file green screen

when i try to play a certain .avi file all i get is a fat green line, the real length of the file is about 60 min yet my one just shows the green line for 26 secs.
it works on another PC but not on my one, ive got all the codecs etc so what can the problem be?

What codecs does the file use and what are you using for playback?

eg. 512x384 XviD encoded with CVS2003.12.02, bframes and qpel using XviD CVS2004.04.01 for playback.

You might also want to try something like mplayer or VLC that does not rely on installed codecs.

You may want to update your codec, check out doom9.org and download the gordian knot codec pack, that's pretty much the all inclusive package for divx/xvid.
