Word and works keeps opening the Save as box!!!

Hi

Any reason why Microsoft Word and even Microsoft Works brings up the save as box everytime I go to type and if I save/cancel it just keeps opening it?

wordpad or notepad do not.

I scanned with updated virus for a year and all sorts of spyware for ages all clean.

Try repairing Office (using Office setup).

Also make sure you have the latest service pack for Office.

And also check you have all the updates from www.officeupdate.com (http://www.officeupdate.com)

I haven't even seen Works in years, but Words has the autosave feature. You are not referring to that are you?

Maybe the file is on a write-protected medium and the "save as" diaglog is coming up because auto-save can't save it to where it's currently open from?
