I am looking at buying a LCD TV which mainly will be used for a pc monitor,
am looking at around the £350 mark and really wanted a 20" but most are only resolution of 640 x 480 where as most 17" tvs are 1280 x 1024. Can anyone explain why when you go bigger you get a crap resolution.
I'm taking it that you get a better picture on the 17", or am I a idjut

The difference is 3". ;)
Anyway, I would take the smaller TV with the better res. Technology will catch up 1 day soon I'm sure and provide better res on the bigger screens.

What do you expect for £350? Technology playing "catch up" is not the problem, your budget is. There are plenty of LCD TV/Monitors that are larger then 17" that can get 1280 x 1024 or better resolutions but you have to be willing to pay for them.

found a Dell 19" LCD tv for £314 delivered, good 1280 x 768 resolution, HD ready, Picture in and by picture, and about what I want for my money,
so I can get what I wanted within my budget, just needed to look around abit more,
