Ok, am new to this xVid thing. Have been downloading 5gb dvd's for a while now, burning and watching, easy enough. But now i'm about to build a media pc for the living room and hook it up to the tv so now I can just download xVids and watch them straight from the harddrive.

Thing is though, I notice on newzbin, that a lot of the xVids are 2 cd's. As I won't be burning them to cd, I would like to join the two files together.

So questions are....

What's the best software to use?

Am I right in thinking that xVids have an .avi file extension?

Cheers chaps.

I'm going to move this to the DVD forum where I'm sure that you'll receive an informative reply. :) Welcome to the forums. :wavey:

no need to join them just put the files in your media players playlist and they will play 1 after the other - you shouldnt really notice when they switch if they have been split correctly

XviD is just a video codec. Sure it can be stored in avi, but it doesn't have to be, you could for instance use mp4 or mkv as a container.

To join avi's, try VirtualDubMod or AVIMuxGUI.
