I found this site, lowest chip is $38, you can purchase the pin header seperatly making it a no solder modchip. http://shop.system-mods.com/product.asp?0=204&1=206&3=9

well there are a couple of no modchip alternatives that will cost you nothing (except the cost of a retail Mechassault/007 Agent under Fire/splinter cell (only one of them) and a memory card)- only downer is live will be difficult (but not impossible) to do without a chip- but dunno how much of an issue that it is for you?

If you use the exploit, the screen scrambles. I know I have load a audio cd everytime I want to play a game. My other one is a 1.0 with a chip. I should reverse them.

Here's where I buy my aladdin chips for $10 each. They are the 32 version and are clones. I've installed 12 of them with no trouble. They come flashed with the M7 bios.

i was told that clones are just cheap knockoffs
They work the same as the originals. I have 1 of my xbox units fitted with one. My other xbox has a X2 Pro. They both work the same. 100% every time.

well the alladin itself is a 'cheap knockoff' since it's just a cheapmod (2$) with a cpld chip.
Clones are just as good. Since they are "cloned"
But if your are insecure with buying an unoffical product then no one can stop you.

well 5 months later i ended up getting an executer lite 2.1 no solder even though there is 1 point to have to solder. i got it in there ok and when i start it up i see a different screen its the screen from the chip then it says looking for a file (cant remember the name) in the cd drive but it does not find it cause i dont know how to find what i need. the instructions said the chip was preflashed with something and some other ppl told me i need to burn a bios cd but i look all over the net and checked xboxscene.com but still nothing. can someone please tell me what i am supposed to do or find cause i am completely lost.

you need to burn a bios as BIOS.BIN to the root of a CDR or DVDR , the chip is installed with the flash code i believe allowing you to flash it from cdr/dvd

If you use the ltools ude installer it acts just like a chip no special loading or anything. Its good stuff if you just want to play dvd-rs :)
However, If you want to add a bigger HD you have to use a cpu to load it up and lock it before you install it though. (If I was going to do this I would just flash the bios though or get a chip but its different strokes for differnt folks I say)

you will find a BIOS in the 'usual places' a search for xbins on xbox-scene or >> google this phrase "on how to use the newest xbox dashboards" i dont think i'm allowed to direct link to the site but you will find what you need if you follow the instructions
I think you need the xecuter 4983

k downloade a bunch of bios files and isos but none of them have the linuxboot.cfg the chip is looking for. when i go to the guides they say that it will look for bios.bin but mine looks for linuxboot.cfg. i did a search for the file but very few results came up and i still haven't found the file

To find bios get Mirc and a ftp program
read this
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php
I would recommend x2 4983.67
Once you find you bios read this

:sigh: ok i will try caus ei dont know what files are there and i might find it. i am on my way home right now and i will give it a try but most ppl here dont undertand my problem. i dont have a problem finding a bios file cause there ae plenty of them out there the problem is that my xbox is looking for "linuxboot.cfg" not "bios.bin" or any kind of xbe file. when i ordered the thing they said it was preflashed the the cromwell bios again it looks for
"linuxboot.cfg" not "bios.bin"
if i can i will try to find some way to post a pic of my screen.
I want to thank everyone who has come here to help me out this whole thing has just been frustrating and i hope i can get it working soon.

Make sure you make a iso 9660 cd with a 512MB bios.bin file.
Switch to the second bank and try to load the bios from there if the first bank is not working
If your first and second banks do not work then you might have to get an external programmer and install the flash using that (or ask them if you can exchange your chip because you don think it was properly fashed with cromwell (make sure you tell them you just want a properly functioning chip that has cromwell on it)
What is your Kernel number and dashboard number?
Also do you have a focus video chip?
Basically once you insert the bios.bin disk the xbox should flash the chip bios
(If you have a focus chip you wont see anything) and the xbox will turn itself off and that should be everything you need and you can load your dash after that.
* Update
Also check you brand of CD-RW some xboxes only read certain brands of cd-rw's a lot of older ones wont read cd-rs period
Are you using a chip or an exploit?

yeah m8 I was talking to you, if you get the 007 gamesave with raincoat you'll get raincoat which uses linuxboot.cfg to load the right kernel, if all your looking for is linuxboot.cfg then get the gamesave and take the linxboot.cfg from that and bundle it with your bios.bin. Or click on the link (http://www.geocities.com/mspritch/raincoat.html) for raincoat 0.7

drop me an email at pepsik@gmail.com if you still need the linuxboot.cfg file.
been working on a linux project and we've been using raincoat 0.5 which uses the file to boot the rompath for raincoat, after looking at raincoat 0.7 I realize that exobex rerouted the file structure. So my apploggies for the confusion. If you have the savegame it should be located within UDATA/4541000d/00000000000/ or UDATA/4541000d/000000000000/raincoat depending on who packed the save.

If you are not using the chip anymore have you ever tried the ltools installer it does everything for you as far as installing UDE1/UDE2.
If you want to flash your bios The eurasia packet works very well makes it alot easier to install a larger hd if you want to do that but if you just want to play games UDE makes life alot simpler
