I was given a SE440BX2 motherboard I put some extras in it to get it running and now its runs ok. It gets into windows after a long wait. Just after the PoenixBIOS at the top shows up it says
Keyboard......Detected
Mouse...........Detected
then it hangs there for a good 20-30 seconds and then it recognizes the HDD (Fixed Disk 0 : )
Then It finds the cd rom and then boots up quickly, what can I do to sort this out?? Any Ideas?
Thanks Again.

Right, it's one of three things...
1) Your hard drive is shot
2) Your CD drive is shot
3) One or the other is jumpered wrong.

They all work fine in other PC's and windows boots fine from the hard drive. One is master on primary one is master on secondry. Maybe the IDE cables are wrongly plugged into the MOBO, Could that be it even if it reads fine now, just slow....
Bios says its in mode 2, dunno what that means...

I'd check your RAM and make sure a memory setting is not set incorrectly in the BIOS. In fact I'd go through all the BIOS settings and double check them. If you unsure of the proper RAM setting chose Auto or set it to 2-3-3 as that one is usually good for all SDRAM
It might also be worth your time to replace a stick of RAM with another if you have 1 kicking about. Or if more then 1 stick is installed pull one, then boot, and keep switching them about to see if it makes any diff.
I could be wrong but I'd say memory or BIOS settings are the prob

64 Mb System Memory
Keyboard......Detected
Mouse...........Detected
Sorry I left that out. I will give it a shot...
Thanks

Also have a look at your BIOS settings for detecting the drives - if they were manually set to the previous drives there will be a hang before auto-detect kicks in.
