I have an apple chip in my PS2. For some reason I am having trouble booting up originals. Can someone please give me the instructions and / or hints on how tho get it to work?
Thanks ahead of time.

Sounds like it might be the chip (like a wire has come loose) if you are only having problems with loding originals

Perhaps, but I can load an original like say Pong (PS1) yet it wont load an original You Dont Know Jack (PS1). The only one I really want it to load is PS2 TC: Splinter Cell original....it plays the intro up to the start/mission section and once I hit X, it gives me the "insert PS2 original" screen....very frustrating.
If there's a wire loose, what are my options on getting it fixed? How much am I looking at? Is there a better chip out now?

One other thing, I just tried my Devil May Cry original PS2 game and it booted and plays. Is there something about some games that does not allow them to play with the apple chip? Too big TOC?

Splinter cell is one of those games that you had to boot a particiular way to get it to work properly with an apple chip and magic 3.1.
Also some psone games dont work correctly on a ps2 if you go to the sony page the have a list of those games.
Is your game scratched or dirty that would also affect the booting.

Splinter Cell RSOD w/ Apple & Magic Solved
This is a solution found by Snoopy007 for his Apple Chip. I'm just confirming that it also works with an Original Magic 3.1 on my v7 PS2 with a DVD Backup.
Saving a Game: let it save, when it says that it saved correctly with the option to hit ok, simply push X and the open tray button on your ps2 simultaneously. You will now just have a black screen. Let your tray stay open for a second or two then close the tray. Your game now continues perfectly.
Withouth Saving: you will be asked do you want to save. Say no. Then you will be asked are you sure? Highlight yes and hit X and the open tray button simultaneously. Then close your tray after a second or two. Your game now continues perfectly.
Loading a Saved Game: highlight your saved game and hit X and open tray button simultaneously. Then close your tray after a second or two.
Many thanks to Snoopy007!
