View Full Version : Fastloader for Dummies - A guide to installing ISO's
1. This guide is for games that work with Fastloader v0.7.
2. First have a UMD of any kind inserted (movie or game or demo disc).
3. Next make sure the memory stick is formatted. On your PSP go to Settings then to System Settings and then to Format Memory Stick. Select “Yes” when prompted.
4. Next connect your PSP to your P.C. by the USB cable.
5. Go to settings and select “USB Connection”
6. The PSP will then appear on your computer as “Removable Disk (k)”. It is (k) on my machine but it may appear as a different letter on your system depending on how many drives you have, but it should always be the last alphabetically.
7. Now unzip Fastloader v0.7 into a folder on you desktop. There will be 4 folders within the unzipped Fastloader folder. These are “ISO”, “ISOMISC”, “ISOSPLIT”, and “PSP”. You should copy all of these folders directly onto the ROOT of the drive that is your PSP. You will be told “This folder already contains a folder named ‘PSP’ “. You should select “Yes To All”.
8. Now you are ready to copy the game to the PSP. You now want to copy the ISO file of the game you want to play into the “ISO” folder on your PSP. They will quite often have an icon that looks like a small stack of books (2 green books and 1 red book on the top) but not always. This will take a couple of minutes, as these files are usually anything from 50Mb to over 1Gb.
9. When that has finished copying you should copy the JPEG image for the game in question to the “ISOMISC” folder on your PSP. This JPEG should be beside the ISO file or in some cases within a sub-folder, but it won’t be hard to find. It is quite often called “backpic” (you can rename it if you want). You only need one backpic for all your ISO's, you don't need one for every game.
10. ADDITION
If you have no UMD then you can use Device Hook to load your games. Unzip it and you will find 2 folders, DEVHOOK and DEVHOOK%. Copy and paste both these folders into the directory PSP/GAME. The ISO's go into the same place as stated above.
It is a good idea to have a couple of different loaders installed as some ISO's are funny about which loader they will play on.
11. Now the game is ready to play. Take the PSP out of USB mode by pressing left on he keypad. Now go to “Game” and down to “Memory Stick”. You should see 2 icons in here. One will be “Fastloader” and the other will say “Corrupted Data”. You should select Fastloader. You should now see the name of the ISO that you copied along with “ - Start inserted UMD -“ and “ - Dump inserted UMD - “. Highlight the ISO with up or down on the keypad and press “X”.
The game should now start and run.
If you like you can rename the ISO’s to the full name of the game. For example, my copy of Virtual Tennis was originally called “wrx-vt”. Just highlight it, press F2 and rename it whatever you want. This will then be what you see in the list when you start up Fastloader.
You can also install multiple games beside each other providing your Memory Stick is big enough.
I hope this guide helps.

Steve

In the fastloader guide it says a UMD of any kind can be used does that also mean the demo UMD disk you get with the PSP?
If using a demo disk just make sure you don't update your PSP in any way.

UMD movies are cheaper to buy anyways, so I'd pick up a movie and use that as your booting disc for fastloader myself.

Humma Kavula & Friends present :
PSP UMD Emulator V0.8 for PSP V1.50 only
----------------------------------------
Following in the footsteps of the Fastloader, here is another fine
homebrew app for your pleasure. This time we present you a full featured
UMD emulator, reboot & exitgame tight - you have to turn off your PSP completely
(or crash it :p ) to get it back to original state. This is a semi-final version,
some things are known not to work properly for now (see below).
- play your favourite LEGIT backuped ISOs from the main menu of your PSP !
- full UMD emulation via selected ISO, either for game, video and audio !
- possibility to bypass updater check within the menu
- possibility to remove/redirect updater icon
- possibility to set any regioncode, even for games ...
- CPU speed setup (currently for ISOs only)
- sleepmode works within games now ! See "ToDo" for more
- possibility to redirect flash0: (user config) and flash1: (kernel data)
to memorystick (and no, this is NOT a rip of the lately released MPH application)
- USB is automatically activated within the emulator config
- configuration will be automatically saved and reloaded on app restart
- reload the ISO list by pressing SELECT button
- restart emulator config by pressing START button
- maybe some more which i just forgot to mention :) ...
***** This application DOES NOT write to the flash, everything is done in RAM only ! *****
Now you can use all the nifty functions like versionchanger, pmf replacer or button changer
but you dont need to write to the flash anymore ! Just replace the necessary files on your
memstick while using flash emulation. Hope some ppl will find this useful :D ...
Copy all the files from this drawer onto your memstick to use this app, should look like
this after :
PSP/
|
+--- GAME/
| |
| +--- UMDEMULATOR/
| | |
| | +--- EBOOT.PBP
| |
| +--- UMDEMULATOR%/

| | +--- < place your ISOs here >

| +--- config.dat

| +--- UPDATEICON <-- optional, create for updater icon replacement

| +--- PARAM.SFO <-- updater param.sfo
|
F0/ <- optional, flash0: replacement drawer
|
F1/ <- optional, flash1: replacement drawer
Config information
------------------
CPU/Bus speed - 222/111 , 266/133 , 333/166 MHz speed setup
ISO mode - turn the iso emulation on or off (off : original inserted UMD is used)
Disctype ISO - the type of the UMD your selected ISO represents (game, video or audio)
Disctype UMD - the type of the really inserted UMD in the drive (game, video or audio)
Updater icon - original : Update icon will be displayed if ISO/UMD contains UPDATE/ drawer
- memstick : PARAM.SFO and EBOOT.BIN are taken from memstick path
UMDEMULATOR/UPDATEICON/ (app wont start properly currently)
- remove : remove the updater icon completely
Regioncode game - region code jap/us/eur/regionfree for games
Regioncode video - region code jap/us/eur/regionfree for video
Regioncode audio - region code jap/us/eur/regionfree for audio
Flash0 emulation - on: redirect all flash0: accesses to memstick path F0/
Flash1 emulation - on: redirect all flash1: accesses to memstick path F1/
Flash redirection function
--------------------------
- if the file is present on memstick it gets loaded from there
- if the file is not present, original flash file gets loaded
- if the file IS present on memstick, and just contains the word "NOLOAD" (uppercase !)
the file isnt loaded at all !
ToDo
----
- CPU speed for original UMD does not work for now
- Main menu crashes when put into sleepmode ! Dunno why, for now go into a game for sleepmode ...
- Regioncode setup is somewhat strange, works fine for ISOs, but not on original audio/video UMDs
- For the techies : flash0:/vsh/module redirection doesnt work for now, all the rest is redirected
- Updater icon replacement to memstick doesnt start the app currently (0146 - prohibited load)
- Autodetect disctype for inserted UMD and ISO
- Much nicer GUI :D
Hope you will enjoy this latest piece of homebrew ...
Humma Kavula !
P.S.: Dunno if the newest games will work, dont have access to them i'll keep watching the
forum ...

got a iso game installed to my psp but then on the fast loader page after i click the game i wanted to play, it just keep on saying Initializing.... Plus I dont see my game file to be a winrar format.... Can anyone help me out. Thanks
Correct me if I am wrong but you have 2 directories within this iso backup. 1 called GAME and 1 called ISO. In the "Game" directory you have 2 folders e.g. "NBA" and "NBA%" (these names will ot be exact")
and in the "ISO" folder you will have one directory called "common" another called "NBA_GAME" (this name might not be exact either" and a file "UMD_DATA".
If this is the case then you are using games that don't run on Fastloader.
You need to do the following
1. Go into the "ISO" folder and copy all the files onto the ROOT of the PSP. i.e. next to the PSP folder and NOT inside it.
2. Go into the "GAME" directory of your backup , copy both folders and put them into the GAME directory on your PSP.
It should work from here.

Just to help out fellow fastloader newbies (like me this morning !!) make sure you DRAG the contents of the fastloader zip over to your psp memory card, I was copying and pasting and it wouldn't work......dragged and replaced the files/folders and away she went :).....and all on my shiny new White PSP mmmmmmm :)

You guys rock!!! We have been trying for days to load games on our new PSP 1.5 and have now managed it with the info in this thread. All other sites were too techy for us!!
Now my question is: I have loaded one game but if I want to load another onto the memory card do I just copy the ISO into the ISO folder and nothing else?

Yep as Phil said, you can drag n' drop as many .iso games into the ISO folder as your card'll hold.
Glad you found out too and welcome aboard. We keep it simple here because that's the way I like it, lol. :D

8. Now you are ready to copy the game to the PSP. You now want to copy the ISO file of the game you want to play into the “ISO” folder on your PSP. The icon for this file is a small stack of books (2 green books and 1 red book on the top). This will take a couple of minutes, as these files are usually anything from 50Mb to over 1Gb.
What is the ISO file?, I have numerous files in the zipped file, do I put all of them in?, here is a picture of what files ive got, appreciate if you could tell me which is the one I need to copy over.
These are the files I have:
SYSDIR (Eboot.bin and boot.bin)
USRDIR (Data(Audio, movies PRX and loads of .GFC files) and Game INI)
As a RAR file its pgs.sp2.iso

Put both folders
DEVHOOK & DEVHOOK%
into PSP/GAME
Then just select DEVHOOK from the memory stick like you would Fastloader.
Also, you can have them all installed if you want.

I have successfully loaded Fastloader v0.7 on to my psp but I am struggling to load game iso's. Please help! For instance I have opened the Wipeout folder on dvdr and it shows about 10 winrars. Do I copy all 10 isos over to my psp seperately and have part 1, 2 etc showing on my psp? There is also .nfo and .svf files. Where do I put them?
Also, I have other games where the files are not called iso what do I do then?
I am totally confused. Please help!
Don't make the mistake of extracting the ISO file like you would a Winrar file, just drop the original file into the ISO folder and make sure you have the 'backpic' file in the ISOMISC folder

at the risk of sounding extremely thick to everyone i have a question.
my friend has a psp which is only a few months old. i've managed to put a few films on the memory card which all work fine. he wants to know if i can put some games on the card for him as well. after looking at this thread i can see there are a few programs that will do this, but what i'm not sure of is where the machine has to be downgraded first (ie with the firmware), or whether these programs will let it run straight away. i'd imagine it will be the latest version currently on his machine, but he doesn't want to downgrade and risk ruining his new psp.
any help appreciated
