well firstly you will need SP1 in order to recognise over 137gb.

apart from that go into Control Panel, Administrative Options, Computer Management, Disk Management, and you should see the drive. By right clicking on it you should get the option to activate it.

You also need to make sure that your bios can handle drivers over 137 gb's. Most old computers can't. And you can format it yourself to which ever file system you prefer by usng the window's Disk Management. Tierra already told you how to get there.

This amy help explain things :

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303013When I took delivery of my 160gb Maxtor a few weeks back, I had some problems. I Partitioned using FDisk and let XP format, during installation.
When it had finished, XP saw my drive as 137gb & not 160gb.
I then found the solution :
- Install SP1
- Grab utility from Maxtors website LargeDriveEnabler.exe
- Resize Partition with Partition Magic 8

If I had known about the SP1 requirement, I would have installed the drive as a slave and Partitioned it from XP. Then swapped it to the Pri Master and installed XP.

Hope that makes sense ;)
