Is someone able to verify this, I was told that Sony is banning people's consoles with hacked DNAS ID's...
They stated that Sony is;
1. Sony got all the posted id's
2. If the server finds any of the posted ID's it telnets the bios
3. If the bios shows any sort of mod (cdloader, swap, no solder) it then Bans the console ID.
4. Your console is then banned from all games and all sony serversAnd that....
its common sense people!
If you were $ony and nticed 500 some online players using the same disc ID...wouldn't you do something about it? Is anyone able to verify this?!

I was told that the same games use the same IDs. For example NFS:UG has an ID that is the same for all NFS:UG discs. But SocomII has several different IDs. I think its BS. No-solder and swap magics dont mess with the BIOS, only the solder mods do.
BTW where did this info come from?

I heard from al lot of people that some mod-chips were not detected by Sony's servers.
So it is possible to play online with backaups and modded PS2's. Maybe the mods ARE detected but we don't know it yet. Sony makes a list of the modded console-ID's and ban them if it wants to. I think this all is BS but you never know.

i've been playing online for several days now and i havent been banned. I use a Magic2 chip. And i use the IDs thats been posted from here to there. so thats why i think its BSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
If Sony can detect if a modchip is being used then its probably safe to use the swap magic, no-solder, slide , or similar. The solder modchips are the ones to deal with.

I would also like to know where people are reporting this problem.

The only thing that could REMOTELY be this would be the DNAS checking for cheats and hacks like in SOCOM 2, in which it temporarily bans your PS2 from playing the game.
Maybe someone heard this, and misconstrued the info?

I would love to know why all of a sudden we can't ask for disc IDs when ownz was asking for them for weeks. Second I don't understand why people keep saying they are banning the IDs. I have 5 games online using the IDs that were posted and I haven't had any trouble playing my games. Sometimes I just dont get those people. One guy named leering said he was banned, but I think anyone who got banned are booting with a gameshark and are too stupid to know that Sony bans use of the GS to prevent cheating. DUH. Oh well. Anyways has anyone gottan ESPN HOCKEY to work?

only reason we cant talk alot about it now is cause some idiot went to the playstation website and blabbed about it i think thats why the ps2nfo site is down ps2ownz too. man i miss that site :(

It seems that Sony has forced the PS2Ownz and PS2Info Site to remove any mention of DNAS IDs from their forums...Take it as you want...

Quoted from 'Paulitix'
I dunno if it makes a difference....but theres all this talk about $ony this, $ony that.... I thought they didnt even maintain the servers, except for their own games... Isn't that why EA doesnt support Xbox, Xbox Live wants to control all the servers and EA aint havin it.
I never thought about this, could this have any validitiy to it?

Suppose Sony's servers do detect chips, could they legally ban them just for having a chip installed but using an original game?

Ravens post was right. Sony doesn't maintain any servers for any games except for it's 989 Sports series or whatever is developed by Sony.
The only thing it has in common with every other game is their DNAS system.
