Hi guys,
I got a softmodded xbox and based on the tuts I see on xbox-scene, you will need to hook up your softmodded xbox with the original drive to your computer and do a whole bunch of things before you can swap a new hdd in it.
I was wondering if there was a simpler way of doing it.
My other xbox which has an Xecuter chip was quite simple to get a new hdd installed. All I had to do was replace the hdd with any I wanted, then run Slayers CD and it formatted and a couple minutes later it was done.
Anything like that for a softmodded xbox?

You can use complextools to change your eeprom on your original chipped box to the softmodded one put in a larger hd format it normally and then lock it then swap it to the softmodded one. (please save both eeproms for the love of all goodness
Hooking it up to you pc is not difficult at all and its easy and really doesnt take much more time to format it and the software is easy to use I can do the whole process in less than 25mins when you change the eeprom and change it back and format with slayers it would probably take about the same amount of time

Thanks PS2daddy for the info :)
I think I will take your advise and just hook it up to my pc. What software would you recommend if I were to hookup the softmodded xbox system to my pc when changing the hdd? :wavey:

You need xboxhdm
Save your c drive, e drive, and eeprom to the xboxhdm disk build the drive from scratch in the xboxhdm options it will install the c and e drive you put on your disk and create an f drive then after this is dont you can lock the drive with the lock command that is what the eeprom is for
On xbox-scene they have a tutorial on how to do this
