Some more newbie questions

I have got my xbox soft modded. I dont use xbox live, I only use backed up games on dvdr(ritek GO4). I have evolutiox and pheonix loader. Im not sure which versions I have as I dont know where to look.

I have 2 games so far that crash when loading the next level, is this a laoder problem?

Also i use qwix to back up my games and i patch them useing the patch option in the tools section. Is that correct as it seems too easy?

Finally I have 1 end of a crossover cable plugged in the back of my xbox with a few of the wires joined together. I am told this will stop the "clock loop" is this correct.

1-Do u mean that u patched backed up games? Or did u patch an original game that u was backing up?

...If u patched a game that had already been backed up, u probably didn't need to as it was probaly already patched!!

...I've never used qwix as I've never needed to so I can't comment on what that does.

2-Have u got in game reset (IGR) switched off in EvoX? as it may be this that is cruching your games out.

3-If u r using the end of a X-over cable with twiddled wires u must have font expliot.
lots of people have had success with fonts. If u never unplug your Xbox u should never have a problem with clock loops, simple as that.

...As u know font exploits can screw up C, as thats where they r installed. If they go wrong they leave your Xbox in mess if u can't get out of the loop. (U can still fix things if u can't get out of the loop, but u will have to take your Xbox apart to hotswap the HDD)

...U don't mention which font exploit u have, as there are several. Some are better than others. bert and ernie reloaded is a good one, for instance.

I prefer to use the 007 exploit myself as it doesn't go anywhere near C:, there are no clock loop issues and it only loads when I want it to :)

Great answers, I tried the games with igr on and off (yes/no) but they still keep crashing.
They are both ntsc and so I guess they are dl,s. ( got from a third party). Could this be the problem. I checked out my c: drive on the xbox and it dose have bert and ernie in the fonts folder but I dont know if they are the reloaded ones , how can you tell. I got my soft mod stuff on a disc and just replaced the c: folder

U didn't need to run them through qwix.

Who ever gave u the disc should be able to tell u what fonts u have, but chances r u have the best bert and ernie versions.

what games are they? Most EA games need the video mode to be switched to the region of the Game- use Enigmah Video mode switcher for this.

Also depending on what version of evox you have (latest is v3935- look for a 4 digit no. beginning with 3 somewhere on the dash) there are more than one instance of IGR, all of them need to be disabled.

Qwix will only patch the games if patching is required.

Could also be an older bios causing the probs but exhaust all the other possibilities first before messing around with that.

The games are starsky and Hutch and moh rising sun. I tried enigma just a min ago on moh but it still froze.

On my evolutionx screen I can see these numbers-remotex V1.8.3752.

Where are the other instances of IGR?

they're all in the evox settings- you'll have to scroll down - can't remember where; it's been a long time since i used evox and v3752 in particular- i know 3935 (latest version)only has one instance

One other thing- you know if you make any changes in the settings you have to scroll all the way down and select "save and exit", choosing exit or pressing "b" will exit the settings without making any of changes you have made.

Could be a bios issue but i would try
a) making sure all IGR's are off
b) patching woth something like complex tools
c) switching to a newer evox
before messing with the bios- especially on a chip-less xbox

Just tried all the igr,s(off) and the game wouldnt boot at all, just kept resetting to xbox screen. i will check out complex tools. Is it simple to switch to a newer version of evox. i have only had the xbox 2 weeks so I dont want to bugger it up. i used the mechassault hack to mod it , so basicly thats all I know how to do.

yeah its just a matter of ftping in and copying over the evoxdash.xbe (or whatever you have renamed it) and the evox.ini file as it has been streamlined a bit.

If it still isn't working turning off all the IGR's then I don't think ( i may be wrong)upgrading evox is really gonna help the prob and i don't wannt be held responsible for fragging your box ;)

o.k i think I will leave it for now, it may just be "bad" dl games, thanks for your input m8
