View Full Version : XBOX Games < 1GB
:wavey: Hello ,
Do xbox games under 1 gb require a dummy file to be added.
E.g Unreal championship when burnt it seems to go into slow motion with the xbox clicking away like mad,
Any ideas

Hi http://dvdrom-guide.com/forums/images/smilies/wavey.gif
yeah sounds like a media issue to me. Did you burn it as an xiso or as a data disc (UDF) if so thats more likely to be the problem.

Datawrite 4X speed v2 reds , created the iso using craxtion and burned with recordnowmax 4.6 as iso set to auto, games > 1 gb work fine.
Thanks

Unreal Tourny is dodgy like that m8, original disc is dual layered with data on both layers in the optimum places.
...Your slow-mo is due to the incorrect layout of data on the disc. This is causing disc thrashing of the dvd drive as it hunts out sectors to build up the data cache in the right order to output.
Best way to get round it is to run game from HDD, next best move is to extract the data and experiment with the layout until happy (might wanna use DVD-RW for this one!)

Thanks,
I wonder if i burn a low priority dummy file using Nero like the dreamcast stuff, it might work, i'll try tomorrow for a point of interest.

Nero used to give me problems if the game was too small it would only let me burn to a cd. So if you want you can add dummy files like you suggested, I would just throw a mpeg or something in there it shouldn't affect the game at all.
Or if you have other smaller games just make a multidisc its pretty easy and will save you blanks.

Don't use Nero to burn Xbox games!
...Unless u like coasters :) Well I've burned 100's of xbox dvdrs 1000's if you count movies all with nero and I can't remember ever getting a single coaster. The only problem I had was when the iso was too large I had to use recordnow to burn it. I don't use nero anymore but its not as bad as you make it sound.

Yeah each to their own but there's no need to bad mouth a program just cos it didn't work for you
Granted the Nero Burning Rom interface isn't the easiest to understand but I, like smokafatty have never had a coaster from Nero (xbox or otherwise) that wasn't my fault or crappy media.
You are always gonna get conflicts if you have like 6 burning apps- I even had it with just RNM 4.5 and Nero- but seeing as i can do everything in nero (plus the added stuff of the recode 2 suite for dvd transcoding (by Mr DVD Shrink no less) and one click avi/mp4 creation) i decided to stick with nero.
The only thing i can't do in nero is burn .img files and i use DVD Decrypter for that :D
