Has anyone had any experience with Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal? (AVP)
I am looking to get better protection. Using AVG currently, and while it is a great free one, you get what you pay for.
Is Kaspersky as good as it sounds?

Well, I guess I wll reply to my own post since no-one else has :) :)
I took the plunge and downloaded the 30 day trial and have decided that this is a great protector. It weeded out 10 or 12 things that AVG had missed (mainly BHOs and Trojan Dropper thingies). To test it, I went to where I knew there was an infected zip file and when I downloaded it, AVP picked the nasty out of the zip file and deleted it. When I unzipped it, it was clean.
Methinks I have found my AV protector :)

Were you using a firewall as well? And spybot/adaware?
I set up a system (actually it belongs to an unsuspecting student ... :) ) with Zone Alarm and AVG on it a month ago. This week I fished out the HD and scanned it using my machine (running Norton) and found it was clean, I thought that was pretty impressive for freebie software.

Yes, I have Zone Alarm and I have been VERY happy with the ZA and AVG combo, but lately I have been having a bit of trouble with BHOs and I have been getting these Trojan Droppers in, inside zip files. I have been keeping ahead of them, because AVG has been finding them after thay are on my system. I have only been searching for something stronger, that will stop them before I get them.
IMHO though, Zone Alarm and AVG are a hard to beat free combo, and I still recommend them to anyone who asks.

I am using Kaspersky's and it's great. F-secure is the top rated in this category.
Here is a link (it's from 2003 but still is useful):

Hope this helps.
