Are you sure it installed completely? Are you using a bad key code? Meaning is the windows xp cd you have a copied corporate edition?

you should be able to uninstall sp1 from the add remove progs.
Otherwise try a system restore

When you do a system restore it does not always remove all the updated file correctly. So its always best to try the Add/Remove feature first :)

New versions of the SP1 have special code that checks for CD-Key during install and won't allow install on a pirated edition.

Certain releases don't seem to be affected by it, though.

Someone I know was able to slipstream sp1 into a pirated version of XP Pro. :) Absolutely no activation required. Just depends on if you the proper hack.

Just rememebr tichyuk you need sp1 in order for usb 2.0 to work. I think there is third party software out there that will work but not sure.

Just thought id add my 2 penneth, sorted out 2 pcs with a similar problem, would boot to the xp logo then, it would reboot again, I had 2 go into the bios and load the default settings to get it to boot, it seemed to be a bad key for xp pro, used a ahhem keygen and found another working key and it was fine, took a couple of attempts but it worked first time it let me install sp1 after changing key but it got stuck in a loop after the xp logo, 2nd time it worked with another key, alot of hassle but i would advise a legit copy of xp and u wont get this problem me thinks m8!
